Members of the 2006 camp took part in the Currents3D Film Festival.
The contest asked participants to create a 30 second trailer in one the categories below in the theme of “Small Worlds”.  The students were
given a basic 3D environment from which to customize their trailers in
any of the categories below.  All entries customized the provided basic environment with different camera views, materials, models, backgrounds, sounds and music.  Imagination was the only limit and the story was everything.

Categories:

Video Game:  Create a trailer in the theme of “Small Worlds” to promote
the coming release of new adventure video game.

Music Video:  Create a trailer in the theme of “Small Worlds” to promote
a new release of a hit single (genre of your choice)

Motion Picture:  Create a trailer in the theme of “Small Worlds” to promote
a new motion picture release for an audience between 8-13.

Parts of a Trailer:
Music, Voiceovers, Stock Phrases, Billing Block

The trailer cannot contain any objectionable material or any sequences unacceptable to a family-oriented audience.

Entries were judged on four criteria: Is your trailer….

  1. Compelling – stirs up immediate interest
  2. Impressive – surprising, Big – does the trailer make the product look good
  3. Faithful – scenes match the true point of the movie
  4. Artistic – a creative twist that makes the trailer a value in and of itself
